In simple terms, your clutch connects your engine to the gearbox.

The system is "simple", it is a succession of steel clutch plates and friction clutch plates which, by being in friction with each other, connect the engine and the gearbox.

The principle is the same as for your braking system. When the pads make contact with the discs, friction occurs and the motorbike stops.

But like the braking system, if the discs or pads are worn, the friction does not work properly and the bike stops less well.

The same applies to the clutch. The engine's power is no longer transmitted to the gearbox because the discs are skidding.

So it's time to change some of your clutch components. Just like the brakes, it is advisable to replace the pads when changing the discs, because everything wears out together.
